70% is the minimum for a test to show “passed”. The real exam requires 200 out of 250 points, about 80%, so aim for 80% as your real practice target.

Shuffled tests: real practice, not memorised answers

Most free JFT-Basic mock tests online are fixed. After two or three attempts you remember the answers — your score goes up, but your Japanese does not.

The 690-question bank is shuffled into 35 different combinations. No two tests are the same.
Every question in the bank appears in the set, so finishing all 35 tests means you see each question 2–3 times in different positions.
The order of answers A, B, C and D changes every time, so remembering “this one is C” does not help.

Covers the 4 sections of the JFT-Basic exam

JFT-Basic is a computer-based test of about 60 minutes with four sections. The practice tests focus on the question types you will meet in each one:

Script and Vocabulary (文字と語彙)

Reading basic kanji, hiragana and katakana, and choosing the right word: signs, food, everyday items and the workplace. Many questions use pictures, just like the real test.

Conversation and Expression (会話と表現)

Choosing what to say in real situations: greetings, asking for help, asking for a day off, apologising and asking for directions.

Reading Comprehension (読解)

Short notices, messages, timetables and simple texts from daily life and work in Japan.

Listening Comprehension (聴解)

Understanding short conversations and announcements. Practise listening carefully for key words and numbers.

A 5-week plan for 35 tests

Week 1: take test 1 without preparation to find your starting score, then 6 more tests.
Weeks 2–4: one test a day. Review every wrong answer and write the new words in a notebook.
Week 5: take the last tests in exam conditions — 60 minutes, no breaks. Aim for 80% or more.
